What if you don’t find a fabric or leather that works for you? Or, what if you want a completely custom look in your room? Then a "COM" or "COL" fabrics will be your best bet. The acronym "COM" stands for "Customer's Own Material," while "COL" stands for 'Customer's Own Leather."
For a small fee, we can use most Upholstery-grade materials on most upholstered furniture pieces. There are several other things to keep in mind when you select a COM fabric or COL leather for your new furniture.
First, be sure to find out the pattern repeat of your fabric; this information will help the manufacturer figure out how much fabric you will need to send for the furniture pieces you plan to order. Using a fabric with a large repeat will require more fabric in order to match the pattern at the seams on your sofa or chair. You can use this Guide to help determine material yardage required.
Also, keep in mind that using your own fabric or leather will void the material warranty on your furniture and that it is the responsibility of the customer to specify exactly how they wish the material to layover, how to pattern-match and whether or not piping is required. We cannot guarantee the end product will be exactly as you envision it if we are not told exactly how you want it. All COM and COL are non-returnable and non-exchangeable.

Standard custom production requires approximately 10-14 weeks lead time to arrive to have your custom made item ready to deliver. This is because it is produced overseas. However, modern offers a Rush Service whereby your custom order will be produced by our fine fabricators here in New York or, will be shipped from our overseas facility by Air rather than Sea. This cuts the lead time to approximately 2-4 weeks. This will increase the cost of your item and since every piece and circumstance is different we ask that you contact a specialist for a customized quote for needs.
