Furniture That Fits Your Space. Choose your materials, the dimensions, and we’ll take care of the rest.
reminiscent of a 1950's school chair, this curious chair is both a delight from a design perspective as well as practical in function. a mid-century design that is both classic and modern, comfortable and simple. originally designed by jean prouv̩, a french designer-engineer, this replica prouv̩ standard chair is engineered with not only style in mind but performance.
inspired by prouv̩'s original creation, we replicated the expert craftsmanship and authenticity with our willet chair. this expertly-engineered side chair features the same look and design attributes as prouv̩'s. in addition to using daily, you'll enjoy showing off this replica as a conversation piece in your home.
chairs take the most strain on their back legs, where they bear the weight of their user's upper body. prouv̩ took this into account very succinctly when designing his standard chair. tubular steel piping is enough for the front legs that take relatively little strain, whereas the back legs are made of voluminous hollow sections and pass the strain on to the floor. the result? a side chair that can stand up to the rigors of high traffic residential and commercial spaces and continuous daily use.
with our carefully-curated color selections for the chair's wood seat and metal frame, you'll find the perfect combination to compliment your space. choose from a black seat/black base, natural seat/black base, natural seat/red base, natural seat/white base or walnut seat/ black base.
this chair reproduction allows you to own and enjoy a classic modern icon without foregoing quality. we understand not everyone has ample means by which to attain such a piece. with that in mind, we offer our masterful replica of willet chair made with high quality materials and careful craftsmanship at a modest price point. among other such replicas, the materials and expertise used to create our products are top quality.
modern engineer-designer jean prouv̩ trained as an engineer early on but chose to explore other design-focused projects ultimately. this led to him to creating a very practical and respectable portfolio of designs from letter openers to buildings. prior to engineering school, he trained and worked as a metalsmith which the skills he garnered would later become invaluable as he created his coveted chair, table and lamp designs. in addition to his prouv̩ standard chair, the engineer-designer is known for his potence lamp, em table and standard sp chair.
